The Emperor's New School is a Disney Channel animated children's series adapted from the 2000 Disney animated film, The Emperor's New Groove. Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale classic, The Emperor's New Clothes is the inspiration for the story, although there are no further similarities besides the title.
The personable (yet sassy) young emperor Kuzco has been charged with completing his education before he can assume the throne. The series differs from most mainstream animated series in several ways, perhaps most notably in the practice of Kuzco frequently breaking the "fourth wall" by directly addressing the audience. Running gags and occasional "in-jokes" are also utilized, giving the production a more contemporary "feel" than standard animation.
Several acclaimed performers provided voices for both regular and recurring characters, including Patrick Warburton, Wendie Malick, John Goodman and the late, legendary actress/singer Eartha Kitt, who received two Emmy Awards for her voice role as Yzma, Kuzco's worldly advisor.
