The world of inline skating is the focus of the 1998 Disney Channel Original Movie Brink! Directed by Greg Beeman and produced by Bernadette Caulfield, the film is a typical high school story involving a group of close-knit skater friends (the Soul-Skaters) who skate primarily for the love and fun of the activity, who find themselves pitted against classmates from Team X-Bladz, who skate under corporate sponsorship.
When Brink, the leader of the Soul Skaters, discovers his family is in financial dire straits, he reluctantly joins the rival group in order to help his family. Feeling betrayed, the Soul Skaters challenge Team X to a race, only to have their "star," Gabriella seriously injured when Team X's leader "fixes" the course.
Abandoned by his former friends and regretting his actions, Brink takes a job at a local pet grooming shop and with the money he earns, forms a new skate team and invites his ex-friends to join. They finally believe Brink's intentions are honorable and agree.
