Everyone’s favorite blue tang is back in the big screen with Disney and Pixar’s Finding Dory. Taking place about a year after the events of Finding Nemo, and features the return of father and son tandem of Marlin (Albert Brooks), Nemo (Hayden Rolence) together with the colorful bunch of the Tank Gang, Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) suddenly remembers she has parents and embarks on a mission of searching for them.
Though the trail of memories was a little sketchy to say the least since Dory suffers from short-term memory loss, she vividly remembers certain events in the life of her family. Realizing that her mom Jenny (Diane Keaton) and dad Charlie (Eugene Levy) are equally eager to find her, Dory and her friends swims off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s famous rehabilitation center for aquatic animals, the Marine Life Institute (MLI).
Supporting Dory in her mission to find her parents, her new found friends at the MLI offered their ‘expertise’ in helping her find her parents: we have Hank (Ed O’Neill), a septopus (since he’s missing a tentacle) and a self-proclaimed master of stealth who prides himself of always giving the employees of the MLI a slip; Bailey (Ty Burrell) a beluga whale who is not entirely convinced about his biological sonar skills; and Destiny (Kaitlin Olson) a nearsighted whale shark. Dory and the gang must navigate the complex facilities of the MLI and in the process of doing so, realized that their seemingly odd differences actually enabled them to overcome the nearly impossible task of finding Dory’s parents. Finding Dory is one ocean of adventure that celebrates the unbreakable bonds of friendship and family that bind us together.
Written and directed by Andrew Stanton who is also credited for his phenomenal work with Finding Nemo, the sequel to the 2003 Pixar blockbuster hit also stars Idris Elba, Dominic West, and Bob Peterson. Finding Dory hits US theaters on June 17, 2016.
