Incredible Journey, The

A daring trek by two dogs and a cat across over 200 miles of rugged Canadian terrain is the premise behind the 1963 Disney adventure classic film, The Incredible Journey. Early radio and television producer-director Fletcher Markle directed.
Showing once more that few studios could equal the Disney team when it came to making movies starring animals, The Incredible Journey lives up to it's title with the story of the three domesticated animals attempting to get back to their home.
Narrated in his "folksy" manner by Rex Allen, the film captures the beautiful but treacherous Canadian wilderness and all it's dangerous features as we follow the three's encounters with never-ending obstacles, both natural and man-made. The action, at times, will have viewers on the edge of their seats, rooting for the plucky trio.
This family classic was remade in 1993 with the updated title; "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey." Instead of using narration, as in the original, actors supplied voices for the animal characters.
