G | 100 min | Friday, June 8, 2001
The Disney Channel's teen series, The Famous Jett Jackson, is the inspiration for the 2001 Disney Channel Original Movie, Jett Jackson - The Movie. Shawn Levy, who directed, went on to call the shots in such well-received comedies as Big Fat Liar and Cheaper By the Dozen.
Lee Thompson Young stars as the 16-year old Jett, who becomes an international teen idol as the result of his portrayal of "Silverstone," a tech-savvy/action-hero who's finding it difficult to juggle his "real-life" with his screen persona. During the filming of his TV series, a freak accident causes Jett and his character, Silverstone, to switch places, leading to danger and intrigue for Jett as he finds himself in the middle of a sinister plot by the evil Dr. Kragg, whose aim is to destroy the world, and it's up to Jett to save civilization.
The film also stars Michael Ironside as the evil Dr. Kragg, along with Montrose Hagins as Miz Coretta, Jett's mentor and link to the "real world."
