Dorothy returns to the Land of Oz in Walt Disney's Return To Oz, the unofficial sequel to the original 1939 classic. Although a box-office and critical failure, the film has since attained cult-like status among die-hard Oz fanatics.
Back in Kansas after her unforgettable journey, Dorothy begins to suffer from sleeplessness and displays an obsession with her trip down the "Yellow Brick Road." Concern for her well-being compels her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em to send her to see a Dr. Worley, who reportedly is making miraculous advances through the use of electric therapy treatments. Prior to her initial treatments, a fierce thunderstorm strikes, and Dorothy is whisked away by a mysterious lady. Suddenly, it's "deja vu" all over again, and Dorothy awakens to find herself back in Oz.
Oz however, has changed drastically, with a new evil King having wrested control from an old friend, King Scarecrow, and Dorothy finds herself in a familiar scenario, having to once again save her friends and locate the fabled ruby slippers.
Fairuza Balk as Dorothy, Nicol Williamson as the evil Nome King, Piper Laurie as Aunt Em and Jean Marsh as the evil witch Mombi head Return To Oz's cast.
