Muppet Movie, The

Everyone's favorite amphibian, Kermit the Frog, is the undisputed star of The Muppet Movie, the live-action musical comedy film adapted from the long-running children's TV program. Directed by James Frawley from Jack Burns and Jerry Juhl's screenplay, The Muppet Movie received two Academy Award nominations for composers Paul Williams and Kenny Ascher.
In this unique film-within-a-film, Kermit, having attained a measure of stardom by virtue of his performance in "The Muppet Movie," which features the iconic frog along with most of his Muppet colleagues, is convinced to move to Hollywood to pursue super-stardom. On his trek westward, Kermit encounters a relentless "fried frog legs" entrepeneur who wants Kermit to become the "spokesfrog" for his restaurant, a proposition that horrifies Kermit. As the adventure continues cross-country, Kermit's path crosses those of other Muppets, as well as those of some noted cameo guests.
Some of the celebrity legends encountered include Bob Hope, Milton Berle, Orson Welles, Richard Pryor, Steve Martin, Mel Brooks, Edgar Bergen and Telly Savalas, to name but a few.
