Combining a fascinating story, an excellent voice-over cast, and top-flight animation, Disney's 2005 computer-animated film, Valiant, tells the story of World War II carrier pigeons being trained by the British military to transport vital information across the English Channel.
Valiant, (voiced by Ewan MacGregor) a small wood pigeon, enlists in the RHPS (Royal Air Force Homing Pigeon Service) along with Bugsy, a pigeon from the "wrong side of the tracks." Valiant meets and falls for Victoria, a nursing pigeon, during his training. Before the new recruits can finish training, they are rushed into service due to the urgency of their mission.
Pursued by enemy German pigeons during their assignment, the pigeons encounter danger at every turn. Valiant uses his small stature to help some of his captured comrades escape then proceeds to fly a secret message to London, followed doggedly by General Von Talon, a German falcon.
Besides Ewan MacGregor, several noted actors provide voices for the heroic flock, including Ricky Gervais, Tim Curry, John Cleese and Hugh Laurie.
