Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, The
PG | 77 min | Friday, January 23, 1998
The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit is adapted from a delightful short story by science-fiction legend Ray Bradbury, who contributed the screenplay for the production as well, a rare occurrence for the literary icon.
This under-rated fantasy film revolves around an exquisite vanilla-white suit that bestows upon the wearer incredible good fortune, ranging from intellectual prowess, musical genius and even romantic invincibility. Costing $100, five similarly-sized, but otherwise total opposite characters chip in $20 apiece to purchase the suit, and devise a plan wherein each of them can wear the suit for an hour.
A stellar cast graces the film, most notably Clifton Collins, Jr., Edward James Olmos, Joe Mantegna, Esai Morales, Gregory Sierra, and although in lesser roles, Sid Caesar and Howard Morris. The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit is directed by Stuart Gordon, better known for his work in the horror genre (Re-Animator, Dolls, The Pit and the Pendulum), as well as being an acclaimed stage director.
